On the 17th and 18th of October 2017, at the Sheraton Warsaw Hotel, the first edition of the SecureTech Congress took place. It is a congress dedicated to cybersecurity, offering the opportunity to get acquainted with the newest trends and strategic solutions for the current challenges in the cyber security field faced by both public administration and the private sector.
The event was attended by 374 participants, who took part in 7 discussion panels, 13 presentations as well as 2 fire chats, which was made possible by 61 speakers.
The grand opening of the Congress, during the joint part of the BIG DATA and SecureTech Congresses, was presented by Dariusz Kacprzyk, Co-Chair of the Advisory Board of the SecureTech Congress and Tomasz Motyl, Chair of the Advisory board of the BIG DATA & AI: Think Big Congress. Gathered participants had the pleasure to hear the speech of Krzysztof Silicki, Vice-Minister of Digitization for Cybersecurity, followed by the world-famous hacker – Ralph Echemendia, working for companies such as NASA, Google, Microsoft as well as the most important names in Hollywood.
The first panel of the conference was about the digital future of business in the context of General Data Protection. Next to be discussed was communication, building a brand and cooperation between companies for cybersecurity and the correct reaction to an attack. Apart from that, issues related to cyber-incidents and the costs involved, as well as the facts and myths regarding RODO were presented. The first day ended with the participants listening to the case-study “Why sociotech is still an effective method of attack. How to hack a man?”, as well as debating on the proactive security strategies in organizations.
The second day of the conference was opened by the Honorary representative of the Ministry of Digitization – dr Maciej Kawecki. The participants then had the chance to listen to presentations relating to the hybrid security environment, logistics and organization of mass events – more precisely, the cybersecurity of the Olympic Games, and the basic aspects of security in the Cloud.
The next step was the debate on technology as a challenge connected with the security of the modern and mobile environment. During the following presentations was the threat of attacks on the Internet of Things in Poland as well as improving cyber immunity of the financial sector. The block that closed the Congress was about intelligent businesses, industries and energy systems, as well as in what way it is possible to measure the effectiveness of security.
